Terms of service

Internet Apartment (internetapartment.com) is operated by Vaibhav Pathak, an individual. By using this site or buying anything on it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not buy anything.

1. What this is

Internet Apartment is a novelty website. It renders a 16-storey apartment building that exists only as software. You can walk around it for free, and you can pay to claim a specific apartment, floor, ad slab, or the rooftop billboard.

2. What you get when you buy

A completed purchase gives you, for as long as this site operates:

• Your display name shown as the owner of that spot to every visitor.
• The ability to customise it: wall and door colours, placed furniture, uploaded pictures, an emblem, video on the televisions, lighting, a short message, and an outbound link.
• Exclusive claim to that spot. It will not be sold to anyone else while you hold it.

3. What you are explicitly not getting

• No real property. You are not buying land, a building, a lease, a tenancy, or any interest in physical real estate anywhere in the world.
• No financial instrument. This is not a security, a share, an investment, a token, or a claim on any revenue. It has no resale value and no expected return.
• No intellectual property in the site. The building, engine, artwork, and code remain mine. You own your uploaded content, not the surroundings it appears in.
• No transfer or resale. Ownership is tied to your account and cannot be sold, assigned, or transferred.

4. Payment

Prices are shown in US dollars and are charged in full at purchase. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as merchant of record and may appear on your statement under its own name. I never see or store your card details.

All purchases are final. Please read the refund policy before you buy.

5. Content you upload

You are responsible for everything you upload or link to: pictures, video, emblems, messages, and destination URLs. You confirm you have the right to use it. You must not upload content that is:

• Illegal, or that infringes anyone's rights.
• Sexual content involving minors, or any other content whose distribution is a crime.
• Malware, phishing, or a link to a site whose purpose is to defraud.
• Harassment of a specific person, or a threat of violence toward anyone.

Uploaded content is public. Every visitor to the building can see it. By uploading it you grant me a licence to store it and display it inside the site.

I may remove content that breaks these rules, and in serious or repeated cases may reclaim the spot without a refund. I will email you first where it is reasonable to do so.

6. Accounts

Accounts are handled by Clerk. Keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Your display name is shown publicly on anything you own, so choose one you are happy to be seen.

7. The site will not last forever

This is the important one. Internet Apartment is a personal project run by one person. I intend to keep it online, but I cannot promise it will exist permanently, and I make no guarantee about uptime, data preservation, or how long ownership will remain visible.

If the site shuts down, ownership ends with it and no refund is due. Please price that risk into your decision to buy.

8. Warranties and liability

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent permitted by law, my total liability to you for any claim connected to this site or your purchase is limited to the amount you actually paid me for the item the claim relates to.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
